This past Sunday, Zack and I had the pleasure of photographing Emily and Charles’ literature-themed wedding at Trapezium Brewery in Petersburg, VA! It was a day filled with love, laughter, and a touch of adventure everywhere you looked (because there were books everywhere!).
Having previously photographed their engagement session at a vineyard, we were excited to capture their wedding day now at Trapezium Brewery, a new venue for us! It offered a unique and charming backdrop. The rustic ambiance of the brewery combined with the historic beauty of Strawberry Hill Inn, was wonderful and offered various photography opportunities!
The wedding’s literature theme was beautifully woven throughout the day. Books were everywhere, adding such a whimsical and unique touch! Even their arch was a creative stack of books, perfectly reflecting their love for literature, and their invitations were designed to look like library books, complete with a check-out card in the front, setting the tone for the entire celebration. Plus, Emily had one of the coolest and most unique bouquets I have ever seen! She had flowers that were alive, however she had handmade flowers made out of book pages, like, how cool is that??
As the ceremony began, loud crackling thunder echoed in the background, creating an atmosphere of anticipation. Despite the impending storm, Emily and Charles exchanged vows with smiles that could outshine any storm clouds, even when Zack and I were covering up some of the camera equipment because it was about to rain at any moment! However, just as the ceremony concluded, rain began to fall, perfectly timed after the vows were sealed with a kiss and rushing down the aisle.
The wedding was smaller and focused on the couple’s closest family and friends. The simplicity of the event allowed the true essence of Emily and Charles’ relationship to shine through. Every detail, from heartfelt toasts to joyous laughter, highlighted the day’s happiness! Plus, the main course was pizza, one of my absolute favorites, and honestly most likely one of the easiest meals to provide that almost everyone likes!
A standout moment was their portrait session in the middle of the reception. With a break in the rain, we ran over to the Union Train Station, which had been featured in the movie Lincoln! It was such a cool experience as Zack and I followed them both, hand in hand, as we walked over to the station and caught some amazing portraits of the two of them in front of the station.
Emily and Charles’ wedding day was just like a story itself: impending storm, intimate ceremony, and cozy reception created a memorable celebration. It was an honor to capture this moment and get to spend the day with these two people and make more friends along the way!
For future brides and grooms, remember that your wedding day is about the love you share and the memories you create together. Rain or shine, the most important thing is the happiness you find in each other. We’re here to capture those moments, ensuring your special day is remembered for a lifetime, no matter the storm.
Please join me in again, congratulating Emily and Charles on their marriage!
