This past Sunday, Zack and I had the pleasure of photographing Emily and Charles’ literature-themed wedding at Trapezium Brewery in Petersburg, VA! It was a day filled with love, laughter, and a touch of adventure everywhere you looked (because there were books everywhere!). The wedding’s literature theme was beautifully woven throughout the day. Books were everywhere, adding such a whimsical and unique touch! Even their arch was a creative stack of books, perfectly reflecting their love for literature, and their invitations were designed to look like library books, complete with a check-out card in the front, setting the tone for the entire celebration. Plus, Emily had one of the coolest and most unique bouquets I have ever seen! She had flowers that were alive, however she had handmade flowers made out of book pages, like, how cool is that??

During the outdoor ceremony, there had been crackling thunder that literally shook everything around us. Would the ceremony beat the rain? Only way is to find out on the blog!

While in GA, I had the privilege of photographing my friend, Delicia's family, for the first time. The family consisted of Delicia, her husband, Blake, and their two delightful children, Declan and Davina!

Davina, the older of the siblings, radiated excitement at the prospect of being in front of the camera. She was just a natural model on camera 🥰. On the other hand, Declan, the younger one, was a bit camera-shy, displaying a charming mix of curiosity. However, with his dad throwing him in the air, it was easy to catch a smile!

This was my first time finally being able to meet her family since I left GA in 2014! It was an honor, and I have loved watching her and her family grow and move. ❤️

So, let me spill the beans on what went down at the studio recently – Lily's first birthday shindig! As the honorary family friend, coworker, and sometimes photographer, I got to play paparazzi for this special day, and it was fantastic!

We jazzed up the white backdrops with some white balloons, giving it that dreamy vibe that perfectly matched the occasion. From the very beginning, I had the privilege of capturing the journey of Lily's life, starting with her parent's heartwarming pregnancy announcements. Now, a year later, I found myself in the studio, celebrating the joyous occasion of Lily turning one!

The main act? A cake that was practically a work of art, decked out with blueberries. And guess who couldn't resist diving in? Yup, our birthday girl, Lily! Those pics of her digging into the cake with gusto – pure gold. Plus, look at those big blue eyes!

Now, here's the behind-the-scenes scoop for you – to get those candid shots, we brought out the big guns. Well, not literally, but we did use a squeaker salvaged from a once-beloved, now-destroyed squeaky toy (thanks to Abigail). It worked like a charm, getting Lily's attention and giving us those picture-perfect moments.

With friends and family adding to the good vibes, the studio was buzzing with laughter and genuine joy. This wasn't just your average photoshoot – it was a laid-back hangout filled with cake, balloons, and a lot of love!

So, under the studio lights, surrounded by balloons and pals, Lily's first birthday turned into a classy yet chill celebration. Here's to more years of seeing Lilly grow up, I've been honored to have been able to capture these major moments! 🎉
